If you would like to volunteer with The Saints, there are always opportunities.
Whether it is becoming a missionary athlete or a pen pal, grading Bible studies
or helping with bulk mailings, you are sure to find ministering to inmates very
rewarding. Volunteers who are fluent in Spanish are especially needed.
Spread The Word
by Elaine Stephens, Volunteer
When God puts an idea into my head I should follow it immediately. That is
exactly what happened, too. The result was that God was glorified.
Five of us, senior ladies, have been meeting every Monday night for over 10
years. We read a chapter of a variety of books by different Christian authors.
We discuss what the |
author said followed by a time of prayer. Our latest book was "Unsinkable" by
Pat Williams.
God put in my mind to write to Mr. Williams. At first, I thought that my letter
wouldn't get past his secretary and would end up in the waste basket. But it
was on my heart, so I wrote the letter telling him how much we enjoyed his
book. I even listed some of his quotes that touched us. Two of them were, "If
we realized how our behavior breaks God's heart, we'd clean up our acts", and
"An eye for an eye would leave us all blind."
I also told Mr. Williams all about The Saints Prison Ministry and enclosed
several Saints brochures. To my pleasant surprise, not only did I receive a
personal note from Mr. Williams, but he enclosed a generous check for The
Saints.
What did I learn? Never, never waste an opportunity to tell someone, anyone,
everyone about God's missionaries, The Saints Prison Ministry.
